Don’t Give In

Late in the evening
When the night owls play
You’ll see me in the shadows
Waiting for my prey

One stumble and I’ll have you
And take you to my lair
I’ll tease you and torment you
I know you’ll like it there

But as the night turns into day
What once was black
Turns a shade of grey
What once was real
Slowly fades away

And although I took my pleasure
It doesn’t seem complete
To swap your box of treasure
For a stain upon the sheet

So don’t be fooled by shadows
And don’t be easily lead
Don’t look for ghouls and ghosties
At the bottom of your bed

For life is what you make it
Be true unto yourself
Don’t look for reasons not to
Don’t end up on the shelf

Have the courage of conviction
Look life in the eye
Don’t miss your opportunity
For the sake of being shy

And sometimes you might fail out there
And sometimes you might win
But you can hold your head up high
When you try and don’t give in.
