New Day

The boat charged against the foaming rage
Pitching and rolling engines groaning
Like dying men
Spray like driving rain soaked you to the skin

But out of this maelstrom
A new wind swept aside
The very thing we tried to hide
The boat lunged and caught the swell
Catching us off-guard we slipped and fell

Tumbling into another zone
Where cuts were quick and to the bone
No time but all time
Who is to question a right to a feeling

Not you with your hypocrisy
Nor you with feigned indignation
This train has left the station
Once departed never to return

Feelings washed clean by honesty
Desire pulsing through veins
Wetting lips with a new mornings dew
I want you cried the wind

And so a new life brave and defiant
One in which we were reliant
On the others strength and love
When all around us and above

Dark clouds amassed to swirl and threaten
But through the black came shades of grey
Demons that swirled
Slowly fade away

Maybe there’s life another day.
